Applying for a Further Advance – How to

  1. Find the right products

Our Further Advance options are listed on Trigold, Mortgage Brain, Twenty7Tec and Legal and General Ignite or you can take a look at our products here.

  2. Apply for a Decision in Principle

If your customer wants to proceed there are two ways that you can apply for a Further Advance.

  3. Online Further Advance Portal

This should be used where your customer requires a Further Advance only and does not require any changes to their existing mortgage such as a change of term, repayment type or transfer of equity.

Once you have logged into the Intermediary Portal, you'll see the Further Advance tab displayed on the home screen.

The Online FA Portal will provide you with all of your customer’s existing mortgage details before proceeding with the Decision in Principle.

Please note, the following mortgage account types will be unable to use the Online FA Portal and a paper Further Advance Application Form will be needed as detailed below:

    • Retirement Interest Only
    • Limited Company Buy to Let
    • Cases in Arrears
    • Cases with a Guarantor

    Paper Further Advance Application

Where your customer needs to make any changes to their existing mortgage such as a term change or transfer of equity, a paper Further Advance Application Form will be needed as the Online FA Portal cannot be used.

The following steps will need to be completed:

    Requesting information about your customer

If you need details of your customer's existing mortgage, please call us on 0345 601 2744 to request this information. You must be registered with The Cambridge to allow us to release information over the phone, following verification.

Alternatively, you'll need to complete the Intermediary Customer Information Request Form. You can password protect and email this to intermediary@cambridgebs.co.uk.

    Obtaining a decision in principle

Your customer will need to complete and sign the Further Advance Application Form. You can password protect and email this to intermediary@cambridgebs.co.uk.

We’ll input the application, submit the request to our Underwriters and email you once we have a decision with a copy of the ESIS.

    Payment of fees

If applicable, the Further Advance fee can be added to the loan or paid upfront. If your customer would like to pay the fee upfront, they’ll need to call us on 0345 601 3180 to pay this by debit card.

    Supporting documents and valuation

Once the application has been submitted you'll receive an automated email. Your Further Advance application will then be available to view via your Intermediary Portal.

Please upload all supporting documents directly to the case for a Case Packager to review.

Visit our Proof of Income and Acceptable Identification guides for a full list of documents you'll need to provide.

If a re-valuation fee is applicable our Panel Manager, Legal and General, will contact your customer directly to arrange for the fee to be paid.

    Interest Only Applicants (Residential Only)

If your customer has chosen Interest Only as their repayment method please also ask them to sign the Interest Only Form and upload this to your case.

    Mortgage Offer and Completion

Once we have the documents required and the Underwriters have issued the offer, a copy will be emailed to your customer.

We will pay your procuration fee within 30 days of completion.

If you have any further questions you can talk to the team on 0345 601 2744.
