It's day two of International Fraud Awareness Week and today we're taking a look at online shopping scams and romance fraud.

Online shopping is convenient and saves a great deal of time and effort, as well as providing a broader range of goods than might ordinarily be available to us locally.

But with that also comes the possibility to fall prey to fraudsters, who use online scams because they can hide their identity and target many victims at once. Click here to find out more.

And then there is dating or romance fraud where people think they’ve met the perfect partner online. They gain trust, then ask for money for a variety of emotive reasons.

You may have seen this on the news where people think they are helping a new partner, only to discover they’ve been conned out of thousands of pounds. It can happen to anyone and unfortunately, we’ve seen it happen to a couple of our customers. Use these steps to keep yourself, and your loved ones, safe from fraudsters.

Keep your eye out every day this week for more help and advice.
